Today the Valhalla Fire Department along with the North White Plains Fire Company No. 1 along with Mt. Pleasant Police Department New York we’re dispatched by 60 Control to 35 Cedar St for smoke coming from the second floor of a house. Upon arrival of North White Plains Car 2321 it was confirmed that there was smoke coming from a second floor window and a working fire assignment was called. The assignment added Hawthorne Fire Department, Thornwood Fire Department, Elmsford Fire Department, and Briarcliff Fire Company to the scene as well as Valhalla Ambulance Corps and Pleasantville Volunteer Ambulance Corps with a rehab unit. We also had Fairview Fire Department and West Harrison Fire Department stand by in our quarters for coverage. Crews quickly gained entry into the house and advanced a hose line to a second floor bedroom where the fire was located. Luckily the occupant had closed the door to this bedroom prior to leaving which saved the rest of the house from fire damage. The fire was quickly knocked down and the remaining smoke was vented from the building. The Valhalla Fire Department would like to thank all the entities that assisted us today, a job well done by all!
