Early this morning, Valhalla FAST was requested to Pleasantville for a working structure fire. First arriving units found heavy fire thru the roof. The working fire assignment brought in Thornwood’s Tower Ladder, The Chappaqua’s Engine, Briarcliff Manor’s cascade and the Valhalla FAST. The cluttered conditions inside the home made it difficult for crews to access the fire. Two tower ladders were set up to knock the fire down from above. Crews from the FAST “softened” the building by laddering the building and also putting salt down to mitigate the icing conditions. Due to the dangerous conditions inside a second alarm was transmitted which brought in Pocantico Hills’ engine , Millwood ladder, and Ossining FAST. Once the second FAST arrived they were briefed on the situation and staged in the rear of the structure. The master streams from the tower ladders darkened the fire down and hand lines were brought in to knockdown pockets of fire. Once overhaul was completed, units were released.
